The Route Builder tool lets you create custom routes that snap to existing roads and trails.
Build Routes to plot your path to specific areas with a highlighted route on your map that you can follow with or without cell service.
You can access the Route Builder from the Tools menu in the Fish App and Web Map, and you can edit Routes to change line color, style, and/or weight after saving them.

Building Routes
To create a route, open the Tools Menu from the bottom toolbar of the Fish App and tap Build Route. The Route Builder tool is located in the upper right corner of your screen in the Web Map.
Drop at least two points by tapping or clicking to build your Route.
By default, each dropped point will snap a route to the closest road or trail.
- Click or tap the
button to undo the last point.
- Click or tap Save when your Route is complete.
In some cases, you'll see a straight line between two points that doesn't "snap" to a road or trail due to gaps between the routing graph and existing road/trail data.
To continue building your Route, switch from Snap To to Point Draw and manually plot your Route as shown below.
In most cases, you can switch back to Snap To after clearing the related gap and the tool will work as expected.
You can edit Routes to change line color, style, and/or weight after saving them.
Following Routes
Use the Location button to follow Routes in the mobile App.
- One tap re-centers the App on your current location and follows you as you move.
- Tap the location button again to enter "fixed-heading" mode and show a directional indicator.
To follow a Route, tap the Location button in the lower right-hand corner of your screen twice—the map will lock to your current location and rotate as you move.
Use the flashlight directional indicator to see which way you're facing in relation to the Route.
If you adjust your viewing area at any point, you'll need to tap the Location button to re-center the map on your current location.
